ROY C. CONRAD

Roy C. Conrad, 85, years of age, of Estero, Florida passed away on July 28, 2013 in Port Charlotte, Florida. Roy was born in Jersey City, NJ on November 5, 1927. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara (Armstrong) Conrad. Mr. Conrad worked in commercial construction and later as a Construction Official in various municipalities in NJ. Roy served in the Navy Seabees in both World War II
and Korea and was a life member of the Island X-8 Navy Seabee Veterans. He was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Bonita Springs/Estero Elks #2753.
Roy retired to St. Augustine, FL in 1989, married Lee on September 1, 1990. He and Lee moved to Riverwoods Plantation in Estero in 1996. He was a member of the Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, a member of the property committee and sang in the choir.
Roy leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Lee; his two sons, Eric (Bonnie) Conrad of Piscataway, NJ and Rusty (Lisa) Conrad of South Plainfield, NJ; his step- children, Tony (Astrid) Trekell of Naples, FL, Carma (Scott) Wentzlaff of Westfield, IN and a combined total of 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Rev. Dr. Stanley Conrad (Joyce) and Rev. Dr. Arnold Conrad (Sharon) of Rockford, IL and a sister, Carol Midkiff (Woody) of Blairstown, NJ.
Roy was not only a loving husband, father, grandfather and a very good man always willing to help anyone and an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church in Fort Myers, FL.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff of the Douglas T. Jacobson Veterans Home in Port Charlotte for the wonderful care shown to Roy.
