Akers, Sigrid E., 94, of Tarpon Springs, FL., passed away July 5, 2011. She was born August 4, 1916, in Arlington, MA., daughter of the late Louis and Sigrid Moller. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her loving family. She was a successful businesswoman, artist, and decorator and lived her life to its fullest extent. Sigrid was very proud of her Norwegian heritage; she lived and traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States. She retired to Florida in 1970 and enjoyed being an active member of numerous social, civic, and church organizations. She loved golf and was a member of the Dunes Golf Club on Sanibel, She was a volunteer at the Cape Coral Hospital, was an active member of the Cape Coral doll club, the Fort Myers miniature club, a docent of the Sanibel museum, a member of the Shell Island garden club. She was a member of the Sanibel Congregational Church and a volunteer Sunday school teacher. She was predeceased by her husbands, Keith Smith, Norman Fair, Harold Hoffman, and Robert Akers, and her three brothers, Gustave, Louis, and Richard Moller. She is survived by her son, Keith Smith and his wife Catherine, and her daughter Carole-lee Horton and her husband Robert; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Horton, Susan Horton, Karen Mooney, and Kelly Douglass, and 5 great grandchildren. Interment will be in Bennington, Vermont at a date to be determined in late summer.
