Lt. Guerrero Obituary

Lt. Col. John J. Guerrero, Jr. USAF Retired, age 69, passed away on July 17, 2014. In addition to a distinguished career in the USAF retiring in 1990, John retired again in 2005 as a Senior Captain/Flight Instructor with Northwest Airlines.
John had a life-saving Lung Transplant in October 2011 and was a survivor of 2 years and 9 months.
He is survived by his lovely and caring wife of 45 years, Sandra Ruth Seeley Guerrero; daughter, Krista Lizak; sons, Sean Guerrero and Morgan Guerrero; mother, Becky Back Guerrero; sisters, Cheryll Guerrero and Laurel Henry; brother, Gary Guerrero; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; as well as a host of loving family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, John requests that a donation be made to the Gabriel House of Care, 4599 Worrall Way, Jacksonville, FL 32224, located on the Mayo Clinic Campus.

I have a model of one of the planes Johnny flew in the U.S. Air Force displayed in a prominent place to remind me of my good friend of so many years. We had such great times with the Guererro family on 7th street in Los Alamos. We loved Sandy as soon as we met her, what a perfect mate! So many memories.

I miss you so very much but know you're at peace. This Christmas is really hard on me especially since we would have been married 46 years on December 28th.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of John. We had the pleasure of meeting John at the Gabriel House in JAX,this past March. My husband Glenn had just receive a liver transplant and John and Sandie were our angels..Words cannot express how they both made the beginning of his journey a positive one. My deepest condolences to all of John' s family. I first met John while on a Convair 580 trip in 1979 at Renpublic Airlines and remained friends up until his retirement. We traded many a tip on AF Reserve assignments and airline retirement strategies! John was a great guy, always optimistic, and will be sorely missed.

John and I met in the Reserve Unit at Maxwell, became good friends and eventually both of us flew for and retired from Northwest. He was a good man, excellent pilot and a dear friend.
