ALLEN IGNACIUS PALMER

Allen Ignacius Palmer was the first child born to Louise Samuels and Ernest Palmer, both of who preceded him in death. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica on November 20, 1924. He was educated in the Kingston public school system. He moved to the United States in 1952 and later became a citizen. He later met Mary S. Cross and in 1977 they were united in holy matrimony. Allen Palmer became a member of Mount Olive AME Church and together with Mary he raised a family in a loving and stable home. He enjoyed many family outings, vacations and good times with his children and grandchildren. He worked at Harper Brothers, Inc. until he retired. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Mary who stood with him until he was called home to the Lord's presence; two sisters: Carmen Bentley and Beverly; two brothers: Noel Palmer (Lorraine) and Cyril Palmer (Mavis); two sons: Allen Palmer Jr. (Sharon) and James Jiles, Jr.; three daughters: Jackie McKelvey (Sonny), Marquerite Cross (Johnny) and Nikki (Willam); brother-in-Law : Richard Sapp (Rutha); sisters-in-Law: Veronica S. Shoemaker, Estella S. Cook and Daisy S. Benjamin (Earlie); 9 grandchildren: 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and sorrowing friends who will all miss him dearly.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Sat., July 20, 2013 at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park. Interment will be in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery. Info (239) 334-4880.
