Eulah Faye Pendleton Porter was born June 3, 1919 in Dungannon, VA. She passed away January 20, 2013 at Olde Knox Commons Nursing Home in Huntersville, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira G. (Sam) Porter, an infant daughter, and her parents Harry B. and Verda Stone Pendleton.
She graduated from Dungannon High School and Johnson City Business School in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Her career was in office management and bookkeeping in the insurance field. At age 72 she retired from Stewart and Sons Insurance Agency in Fort Myers. After retirement she volunteered at local nursing homes playing the piano, reading poetry, writing letters for residents and visiting with them.
Faye was an avid seamstress and enjoyed embroidering tablecloths and pillowcases. She was excellent at quilting, crocheting, making afghans, lap robes and quilts for family and friends.
She learned to play the piano at the age of eight and used her talent playing the piano at churches, weddings, funerals, plays, group sing-a-longs and for pleasure.
Faye is survived by Jimmy P. and Joan Porter of Fort Myers, Don and Pat Bechtol of Cornelius, NC and Sam Porter of Statesville, NC along with five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A service of celebration of her life will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens in the Family Center, July 20, 2013 at 11 AM. Following the service, a light luncheon will be served. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the
