LeRoy Dinwoodie, 82, of Fort Myers, FL and formerly of Ashaway, RI passed away on August 23, 2012 at Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, FL. He was born in Ashaway, RI on February 20, 1930 to Theodore and Hannah (White) Dinwoodie. He was a self employed painting contractor for many years and in later years he was employed at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton, CT. LeRoy was a friend of Bill W and had nearly 50 years of active participation in AA. He was a founder of the former Thursday night AA group that met at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ashaway, RI for many years. A past member of the Hopkinton Republican Town Committee and an US Army veteran; he enjoyed reading, playing cards, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. LeRoy was the self proclaimed/unofficial "Mayor of Ashaway" and by some he is still referred to as "The Mayor". He was very much loved by his family and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his children, Kenneth (Jody) Dinwoodie of Ashaway, Patrick (Joann) Dinwoodie of Westerly, Linda (James) Arzamarski of Fort Myers, FL and Sharon (Dr. Charles) Lanzillo of Stonington, CT, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, his sisters, Lillian Booth of Ocala, FL and Alice Crandall of Westerly, along and many nieces and nephews. LeRoy was predeceased by a son, Ricky L. Dinwoodie, brothers, Alexander, Edgar and Donald Dinwoodie and sisters, Arlene DesRosier, Lois Posillo and Claire Harvey. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00pm Monday, September 3, 2012 at Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL.
