Lois F. Kurtz, 93, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away on Sun., Feb. 17, 2013 peacefully in her home with loving family members by her side. She was born in Jacksonville, FL on June 12, 1919 to Dewitt & Edith (Collins) Farabee; later married Thomas Kurtz in 1949; was active with United Methodist Women's group, Matron of Order of the Eastern Star, and Royal Matron of Amaranth; Lois retired from the Lee County Clerk's office fulfilling many duties after 40 years with her last two years serving as Clerk of Circuit Court. An amazing woman, she had lived in Fort Myers for 90 years and truly enjoyed handcrafts, flowers, carving birds, bird watching, butterflies and her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Henry Kurtz & his wife Bette Ackerman of Memphis, TN; brother, Maurice Farabee of GA; sister, Irene Crow of Ft. Myers, FL; nephew & caregivers, Max R. (Terry J.) Crow, Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Kurtz; brothers: Dr. A. Waldo Farabee, Dewitt Farabee, Jr. and sister, Florence Farabee.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8pm on Thurs., Feb. 21, 2013 at the Anderson-Patterson Cremation & Funeral Services chapel, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916, 239-694-4121. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Fri., Feb. 22, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church with private burial following.
