Vernon passed away peacefully on Feb. 8, 2013 at his home in Gulf Coast Village, Cape Coral, Fl. He was born Nov. 5, 1919 in Oshkosh, Wi.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Josephine Dentz Basler, step-daughters, Kris McPeake of Kansas, Heidi Luebke of Wisconsin, Janna Kritz of Minnesota, a sister Evelyn Nachtraub of Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his 1st wife Mabel "Lucille" Sherman Basler.

Vernon served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European theater driving a supply truck to the front lines. After the war Vernon worked for the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 400 in Oshkosh until his retirement.

A memorial will be held at Gulf Coast Village at the family's convience.

He will be interred in the Elenwood Cemetery in Oshkosh, Wi.
