CHARLES R. WRIGHT

APRIL 17, 2014

Charles R. Wright

Retired State Farm Insurance Senior Executive Vice President, Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend, Civic Leader and Philanthropist

Charles Richard Wright (Chuck), longtime agency and executive officer of State Farm Insurance died on April 17, 2014 in Fort Myers, Florida at age 72.

A Yankton, South Dakota native, Chuck attended the University of South Dakota and graduated from Yankton College in 1963. Shortly after graduation, he joined State Farm as an agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His forty-one year career took Chuck and his family to New York, Arizona, and Bloomington, Illinois where he retired as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Agency and Marketing Officer in 2004. Chuck was a relentless promoter of a diverse, professional and highly trained agency force at State Farm.

In retirement, Chuck and Mary devoted themselves to the St. Charles Yacht Club in Fort Myers, Florida with Chuck serving as Commodore, chair of several community-focused fundraising efforts, and writing and directing plays and skits that many members enjoyed performing.

Above all, Chuck was devoted to his family and friends. He was married for fifty-one years to the love of his life and best friend, Mary (Adrian). Chuck was a loving and inspiring father to Chuck Jr. and his wife, Mary Beth (Albrecht), Anne and her husband, Jim Fiero, and Jane and her husband, Michael Miner, quick to cheer on their accomplishments and the first to encourage perseverance in the face of life's challenges. Chuck was consistently amused by, enthralled with, and beaming with pride for his six grandchildren: Connor (19), Chuck (18), Clay (17), Robin (14), Rachael (8) and Lauren (5). Chuck also loved other surviving family members very much, including his sister Mona and her husband Don, his brother David and his wife Ila. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Agnes (Weiland) Wright.

Visitation for Chuck will be held at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home in Fort Myers, Florida on Tuesday, April 22nd from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday April 23rd from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a brief service following.
