Philip Locascio, 93 of Fort Myers, FL passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Hope Hospice.

Phil Was born in Garfield, NJ on May 14, 1921 to Frank and Vincenza Locascio. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann, his parents, sister Concetta Maggaro, brother Sam Locascio, niece MaryAnn Lombardo, grandson Jamie Stewart-Locascio and daughter-in-law Tammy Stansell Locascio. Survivors include daughter Phyllis (Walt) Shaw of Fort Myers, FL, son Frank (Mary) Locascio of Bryson City, NC, and son Rick Locascio of Palm Harbor, FL, six grandchildren Stephanie, Angela, Opal, Drew, Jade, and Chyna, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Phil began his 30-year US Air Force career in the WWII Pacific Theatre as a member of the 11th Bombardment (H) Group, 431st Squadron. He continued with service in Korea, Vietnam and the Strategic Air Command. He retired from military service at McGuire Air Force Base in NJ in 1971.

Phil and Ann moved to Fort Myers in 1979 from Columbus, NJ and were the first residents of South Pointe South. He served in many capacities for the HOA and enjoyed a very active social life with the many friends and neighbors for 32 years. Phil was an active member of Resurrection of Our Lord Church, Knights of Columbus #2598, VFW Post 10097, DAV Post 108, Air Force Sergeants ASSN, and the Elks.

We would like to thank the residents and caring staff of Clare Bridge Fort Myers for the many happy experiences they provided for Phil in his final year. All his family and friends will miss his smile and twinkle in his eyes.

A Memorial Service will be held August 23, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Drive, Ft. Myers, FL ( In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Phil's name can be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Ft. Myers, Fl 33908. ( 800-835-1673).
