ROBERT DREYER Obituary

ROBERT L. DREYER

AUGUST 31, 2012

Robert L. Dreyer, 92 of N. Fort Myers, FL, peacefully passed on to his reward, at Charlotte Regional Medical Center, in Punta Gorda, FL on August 31, 2012. His wife Nancy was by his side as she had been since they met in 1972. Bob was born in Lynn, MA, June 8, 1920. MA was "home" until moving to Florida in 1986.

Bob served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force from March 1942 to January 1946. He was a Control Tower Operator, last stationed on Amchitka, in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. Before leaving MA, his last personal accomplishment was to earn his B.A. in the Management of Health and Human Services from the U. Mass Boston in 1980.

He is survived by wife, Nancy; children, Stephen (Diane) Dreyer of West Lake Village, CA, Sharlene Dreyer Ford of Wakefield, MA, Andrew (Cathy) Dreyer of Saugus, MA, Ava Dreyer of Framingham, MA; grandchildren, Evan Dreyer, Jamie Dreyer, Kendall Dreyer, Julia Rose Dreyer, Brian Seekins and great-grandchildren, Benjamin Dreyer, Charlotte Dreyer, Rachel Dreyer, Samuel Dreyer.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of happy memories. He always had a joke to tell; loved performing in plays and skits, especially (impersonating Jimmy Durante); played softball until he was 86, was an avid L.F.'s golfer and bowled through his 92 birthday; volunteered at C.R.M.C. for 20 years and stayed a Red Sox and N.E. Patriots fan always. His most recent great pleasure and honor was serving as a Coach for the Suncoast Youth Archery Team in N. Fort Myers. That program and those children have been very dear to his heart these last 2 years.

Memorial Donations can be directed to Suncoast Neighborhood Task Force, Inc., 2241 case Lane, N. Fort Myers, FL 33917; Memo: Suncoast Youth Archery Team .

Nancy and family: Just know that your friends and neighbors at Lake Fairways will be missing Bob with you.

September 5, 2012

I have many memories of visiting my parents (your neighbors) and seeing Bob out walking the 'puppy' always with a smile on his face and a greeting for everyone. His mood was contagious and lifted everyone's spirit.
Nancy, you had 40 years of happiness, sadness, laughter and love. Thinking of you. Susan Gruel Agee

It was a pleausre to meet such a fine person as Bob. The short time that I knew him he showed how good a coach he was.
