George Kirkpatrick , age 90, died on 11/17/12 after a year-long illness from lung cancer. Born and raised in Bethlehem, PA, he joined the Army in WWII, was wounded and was then a POW in Germany. Liberated in 1945, he finished college and married in 1946, and then worked as a chemical engineer for Union Carbide. He held several patents related to his work developing plastic products.

He retired to Ft Myers, enjoying his last years in Florida. He was a good man with a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary, his children George, Nancy and John, and his two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His son Jeff passed away in 2010.

Viewing will be held on Thursday 11/29, from 5-7 pm at Memorial GardensFuneral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Ft Myers. A funeral mass will be on 11/30at 9:30 at the Church of the Resurrection, 8121 Cypress Lake Dr, Ft Myers.
