Robert Clyde Rauschenberger

Robert (Bob) Clyde Rauschenberger, 70, on July 26, 2012 in Aberdeen, North Carolina from complications of pancreatic cancer, congestive heart failure and diabetes. He was born in Milwaukee, WI to the late Clyde and Marinette (Hassenmiller) Rauschenberger.



Bob was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Developmental Economics - both with Honors. He was also a Distinguished R.O T.C. graduate and joined the US Air Force as a Second Lieutenant following graduate school. Bob was stationed at Clark AFB in the Philippines from 1963 to 1967.

Bob's highly successful business career began with his opening Barnett Bank's first Master Card division. Bob then joined the fledgling Mariner Group as their marketing director. He went on to open Mariner's first real estate brokerage, Vacation and Investment Properties (VIP Realty), was the brokerage's first president and very first $100,000,000 man. He was involved in the marketing of many successful projects from Mariner Pointe to Casa Ybel and South Seas Plantation resorts to the Useppa Island Club and Island Harbor Resort in Charlotte County. He later served as president of the Lehigh Group and did extensive consulting for clients in Curacao.

Bob was an avid Porsche enthusiast. He had an ear for language and spoke fluent Portuguese and Spanish. He was also very knowledgeable about music especially jazz. During college he was a fraternity brother of both Boz Scaggs and Steve Miller and occasionally played tambourine in Steve's band during fraternity parties. Bob's passions included photography, boating, fishing and reading. A lover of life, he enjoyed his family and the many, great friends he made throughout the years. He was a kind and generous spirit to those for whom he cared and will be greatly missed.

Bob is survived by his brother Rick and wife Betsy of Hillsboro, NM; daughter Melinda Lebb and husband Stephen of Aberdeen, NC; daughter Michelle Carroll Volk and husband Pete of Las Vegas, NV; nephew Chad Rauschenberger, grandchildren Salvatore LoSauro, Sicilia LoSauro, Kevin Carroll, Gaetano LoSauro and Marco LoSauro, and great granddaughter Vanessa LoSauro. He is also survived by his former wives, Rebecca Reid of Las Vegas and Wanda Wagner of Bonita Springs.

In lieu of a memorial service, Bob's remains will be spread over the blue waters of the Caribbean he loved. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to the American Diabetes Society.
