Mitchell Sewall passed away peacefully and in the company of his family this past week.

He is survived by his children Adam Sewall of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Tova Sewall of NYC, NY; beloved daughter-in-law, Elise Sewall; and adored Grandchildren: Zachary, Samuel and Michaela.

Born May 1, 1932 in Brooklyn, Mitchell was a longtime New Yorker who moved to Woodstock, NY in 1988, and relocated to Ft. Myers, Florida in 2011.

Mitchell (Mitch) enjoyed careers in the visual and culinary arts, and was famous to friends, family and community for his infectious energy and talent, and passion for food and art.

Mitch had immigrated to Israel as a young settler to live on Kibutz Galon and returned to the US to serve in the 187th Infantry-Airborne Division in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was a true 'Renaissance Man' with passions reflected in his life as; Kibutznik, soldier/medic, draftsman, artist, sculptor, potter, film animator/effects artist, gallery owner, cook book and food editor, who was also noted for being an accomplished cook with an encyclopedic knowledge of food and art.

Mitch was also a volunteer EMT in Woodstock NY and was a skilled carpenter, mechanic, plumber and gardener who had a great love of the outdoors embodied in life long hiking, camping, canoeing and kayaking trips.

Mitchell was the only child of Margaret Sewall (May 15, 1913 - November 1979).

A graveside service will be held at Beth Moses Cemetery - Pinelawn, NY on Tuesday July 9th at 10:30 am. Shiva to follow nearby in Long Island. Also a Shiva will take place at the Sewall residence on Thursday and Friday July 11-12th in Fort Myers, FL.
