Hester Barrett Obituary
Born April 22, 1929 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Isaac Thomas Miller and Ora Mae Hogan Miller. She was predeceased by one brother, Carroll Miller; and four sisters, Illene Mattox, Pauline Walden, Virginia Walden, and Viola Barker. She was a retired CNA with Camelot Nursing Home, and was a member of Clement Memorial Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed playing and singing music, and loved reading her bible.
She is survived by her husband, Earnest Lovelace Barrett of the residence; two sons, Dean Irby and wife, Gail of Evington, and Mackey Irby and wife, Dianne of Altavista; two daughters, Teresa Newman and husband, Perry of Goode, and Betty Hutchins and husband, Jimmy of Hurt; one sister, Jannette Irby and husband, Pete of Hurt; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 10, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. Dennis Nichols.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday October 9, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son, and daughter-in-law, Mackey and Dianne Irby of 6051 Gladys Road, Altavista.
