Marvin Crews Obituary
Marvin Aubrey Crews Sr., 78, of Lewis Ford Road, Gladys, passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at his daughter's home. He was the husband of the late Adelle Dowdy Crews.
Mr. Crews was born
July 29, 1932, in Halifax County, a son of the late James Andrew Crews and Lou Fannie Jones Crews. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a retired employee of the Bibb Co.
He is survived by one son, Marvin (Buddy) Crews Jr. (Lynn), of Brookneal; two daughters, Bernadette Klein (Glenn), of Gladys, and Christy Angel (Ronald), of Naruna; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Inez Oakes, of South Boston, and Caroline Smith, of Gladys. He was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Shelby Royal, with interment to follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 16 of Lynchburg.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal, and at other times at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Ronald Angel, Maddox Road, Gladys.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you send donations to Rebuilding Together-Campbell County, P.O. Box 1186, Rustburg, VA 24588, or to the Gentle Shepherd Hospice.
