Johnson

Ruby Esther Johnson, 86, of Ebenezer Rd., Gladys passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Miss Johnson was born in Charlotte County, Sept. 10, 1924, a daughter of the late Fleming Hilary Johnson and Kate Tucker Johnson. She was a member of Falling River Baptist Church and a retired public health nurse for Campbell County.

She is survived by one sister, Lois J. Elder, of Nathalie; special niece and nephew, Amy Johnson Waller, of Kenner, LA, Dale Rutledge, of Brookneal; a great niece, Jamie R. Wolf, of New Orleans, LA; great-great niece and nephew, Grace and Jacob; and a number of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Johnson, Eunice Owen, Thelma Arrowood; two brothers, Newton and Jack Johnson; a lifelong friend, Bailey Monroe.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Keith Williams with interment to follow in Staunton River Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence of her sister, Lois Elder, 1073 Childrey Church Road., Nathalie.

Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal is in charge of arrangements.
