Mrs. Bettie Alice Terry Stephens of Natalie, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Avante Nursing Home in Lynchburg at the age of 93.

Mrs. Stephens was born in Big Four, W.V. on Dec. 17, 1917, to the late Mr. Charles Fred Terry and Mrs. Ida Lou Barbour Terry. She was married to the late Mr. Boyd Alton Stephens and was a member of Riceville Baptist Church in Java.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by: one daughter: Mrs. Ola Lee Wolford, of Nathalie, three sons: Mr. Fred Stephens, of Nathalie, Mr. Alexander Stephens, of Temple Hill, M.D. and Mr. Junior O. Stephens, of Inglewood, Cali.; (16) grandchildren; (14) great grandchildren; (2) sisters: Mrs. Evelyn Layre, of District Heights, M.D. and Ms. Roxie Barbour, of Mt. Rainer, M.D.; (2) brothers: Mr. Henry Terry, of Nathalie and Mr. Haywood Terry, of Danville; (3) daughters-in-law: Mrs. Gail Stephens, Mrs. Sandy Stephens and Mrs. Cynthia Stephens; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by one son: Mr. Arthur Lee Stephens and one sister: Mrs. Katherine Barksdale.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bettie Alice Terry Stephens will be held on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at 2 p.m. with services at Riceville Baptist Church in Java with the Rev. Ronnie Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 1021 Alchie Lane, Nathalie, Va. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Crawford House in Halifax.

Funeral services are by Jeffress Funeral Home, 2000 North Main Street, South Boston.
