Russell HACKWORTH Obituary
Russell Davis Hackworth, 75, of Lynch Station, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
He was born Tuesday, April 10, 1934, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Davis Thurman Hackworth and Eva Dowdy Hackworth. He was also preceded in death by a son, Tony Giles, and a brother, Howard Hackworth. He was a retired employee of the Lane Company and was a member of the Leesville United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his daughter, Cheryl Spence and husband, Jerry, of Lynch Station; a brother, Tom Hackworth and wife, Marie, of Altavista; four grandchildren, Twyla Giles, Jason Spence, Joy Spence and Jeramy Giles; four great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Eric Scruggs. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, in Leesville United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Rick Dellinger officiating. Friends may call after noon, today, May 1, 2009, and family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Huddleston.
