Philip Hobbs Obituary
Philip Andrew Hobbs Sr., 72, of Goode, passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born Friday, June 3, 1938, in Memphis, Tenn., a son of the late Everett G. Hobbs and Anna Elizabeth Stinnett Hobbs. He was a retired self-employed salesman. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Imogene Hagy Hobbs; two sons, Andrew Hobbs and wife, Sylvia, of Forest, and Mark Hobbs and wife, Donna, of Goode; three sisters, Ruth Hobbs, Esther Eldridge, both of Arkansas, and Grace Hughes, of Tennessee; three brothers, Joy Hobbs, of Virginia, Ira Hobbs, of Missouri, and Joseph Hobbs, of South Dakota; six grandchildren, Natalie Rinaldi, Jennifer Dirks, Crystal Hobbs, Mark A. Hobbs Jr., David Hobbs and Caleb Hobbs; and four
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 19, 2010, at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, with Sam McCracken, Bobby Sylvia, Stephen Jayne, Steve Marshall and Jared Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park. Friends may call after
12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
