Bobbitt Sr.
Jesse Lee "Butch" Columbus Bobbitt Sr., 69, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at his residence. Born Oct. 9, 1941, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Peggy Viar and the late Ollie Hayden Bobbitt.
Mr. Bobbitt was a retired machinist for the U.S. Navy and also retired from the sign shop for the City of Lynchburg. He was a member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church senior Sunday school class.
Mr. Bobbitt served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Bobbitt is survived by two sons, Jesse Lee Columbus Bobbitt Jr., of Bedford, and Jason Bobbitt and his wife, Leslie, of Tennessee; one brother, Ollie "Buddy" Hayden Jr., and his wife, Judy, of Danville; his fianc‚e, Juanita Stevens, and her sons, Jesse and Michael Stevens, of Concord; and five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel, with the Rev. Lenn Lloyd and Rev. Carl Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel.

My husband and I were very sorry to hear that Butch had passed away. We have known him for a long time, but reconnected a couple of years ago while playing bluegrass at the "Good Cherry" cafe. We are very sorry to hear of Butch's passing. My dad, Melvin Clark, and Butch were good friends. In fact, my dad taught Butch to play the dobro and was very proud of him. I can only imagine the Glorious music that my dad and Butch are playing in Heaven. May GOD bless all of Butch's family.
