Ruby Burch Hogan

Ruby Burch Hogan, 94, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Walter L. Foster Jr. and Carlton Delmar Hogan. Born Jan. 18, 1916, in Oronoco, she was the daughter of the late Albon Price and Zilla Sprouse Burch.

Mrs. Hogan was a retired private duty nurse and a former nurse for Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was also a member of Marsh Memorial United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Hogan is preceded in death by one son, Walter L. Foster III, and several sisters and brothers.

Mrs. Hogan is survived by three grandchildren, Walter L. Foster IV and his wife, Courtney, of Falls Church, Jennie Lee Decker and her husband, Robert, of Forest, and Shannon Sizemore and her husband, Scott, of Winchester, Calif.; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Estelle Hollaran and her husband, Keith, and Elaine Allen, all of Lynchburg; one brother-in-law, Dan Hogan, and his wife, Betty, of Lynchburg; special niece, Debbie Hawkins, of Lynchburg; and daughter-in-law, Faith Foster, also of Lynchburg.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with the Rev. George D. Hatmaker officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
