William Hawkins Obituary
William Morris Hawkins, 85, of Lynchburg, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Lewis Hawkins.
Born April 4, 1925, in Gladys, he was the son of the late Walter William and Evelyn Morris Hawkins and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Langford. He was a retired salesman with True Value Hardware Store, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Parkview United Methodist Church.
Mr. Hawkins is survived by one daughter, Wanda Hawkins (Alan), of Lynchburg; one sister, Barbara Dillon, of Forest; and two grandchildren, Michael Lee Langford (Wendy) and Kristin Wooldridge.
A graveside service, with military honors by American Legion Post 16, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Wesleybury United Methodist Church Cemetery in Gladys with the Rev. Steve Propst officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 2, 2010, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

I worked with Bill at True Value for four years and he was like a second grandfather to me. I enjoyed his company, his stories, and his expertise in the store. I will miss him greatly.
