Jerry Wilson Tyree

Jerry Wilson Tyree, 62, of Gladstone, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was the husband of Jane Dinwiddie Tyree for twenty-seven years.

Born June 19, 1948, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late William Arthur Tyree Sr. and the late Dolly Puckett Tyree. Jerry was a former employee of Parker Hannifin Powertrain (Wynn's Precision) until 1990, with eighteen years of service and was a horse and cattle farmer.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by one son, Jerry W. Tyree Jr. and wife, Missy, of Forest; one brother, William A. Tyree Jr. and wife, Gladys, of Madison Heights; one sister, Mary Beeson, of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother-in-law, Ronald Dinwiddie, of Lynchburg; one grandson, Conner Tyree; Beth Moon, of Gladstone, who Jerry loved like a daughter and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Bill Evans officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m.

A private graveside service will be held at Fort Hill Memorial Park, at a later date.

Dear Family, I knew Jerry from back in the late 60's and early 70's and he was certainly one of a kind. I know he will surely be missed by all who knew him. I have lots of good memories of times spent with Jerry. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
