Sybil Ruth Beck, 80, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Robert Dean Beck.

Born April 28, 1930, in Torrance, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Herbert C. and Audrey Sanders Myers. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Beck is survived by two daughters, Gloria R. Henry, of Madison Heights, and Joanna L. Beck, of Lynchburg; two sons, Todd R. Beck and wife, Elissa, of York, S.C., and Jon Beck, of Blacksburg; one brother, Paul Myers, and wife, Cheryl, of Bellingham, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Vicki Abbott, Peter Henry, Crystal Holloway, Mark Henry, Bryan Henry, Matthew Beck, Joshua Beck, Dallas Beck and Dyllan Beck; and seven great-grandchildren, Kali Abbott, Chloe Abbott, Kristin Abbott, Rylee Holloway, Jackson Holloway, Chandler Henry and Trevor Henry.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh Jr. and the Rev. Steve Esterline officiating. Interment will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.
