Gladys Bennett Obituary
Gladys Bennett, 86, of Big Island, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010. She was the wife of Albert L. Bennett.
Gladys was born Sept. 22, 1923, in Pedlar Mills, a daughter of the late Andrew Howard and Ellen Hudson Maddox.
In addition to her spouse, she is survived by her sons, Wayne Bennett and wife, Kim, of Lynchburg, and Robert Lewis Bennett, of Bedford; her sister, Hazel Maddox, of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Amanda Wilkerson and husband, Jason, of Lynchburg, Zachary Bennett and wife, Jessica, of Madison Heights, and Logan Bennett, of Lynchburg; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Maddox and Harry Maddox; three sisters, Virginia Tomlin, Ruth Tomlin and Myra Davis; and one great-granddaughter, Courtney Wilkerson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 14, 2010, at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Big Island, with the Rev. Carl Weiser officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association, 4504 Starkey Road, Roanoke, VA 24018.
