Hortense Mitchell Obituary
Hortense Miller Mitchell, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Vernon and Willie Ratcliffe Miller.
She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Ernest William Mitchell.
Hortense was retired from C & P Telephone Co. and was a lifetime member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church.
She is survived by her three beloved children, the Rev. William "Bill" Mitchell, Kaye M. Watson and her husband, Charles Jr., and Faye M. Sparks and her husband, John, all of Lynchburg; her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Jonathan Sparks, of Lynchburg, and Lauren Howard, of Charlottesville; her sisters-in-law, Christine Miller Hicks, Dorothy Miller and Carolyn Miller Brooks; a number of special nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Sweetie. A special thanks to her two nieces, Marsha Jones and Kathy Bailey, for their loving care.
A private family service will be held.

The Mitchell Family,you are in our thoughts and prayers. Your Mother was such a blessing and encouragement to my family and me while we were going through radiation together about a year ago. She was a Sweetheart.

To the family of Hortense Mitchell - I did not personally know Mrs. Mitchell but I previously worked with her niece, Marsha Jones, and remember Marsha speaking fondly of "Hortense". May God bless you all with peace, comfort and encouragement during this difficult time.
