Ida Coleman Eagle

Ida Coleman Eagle, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2010. Mrs. Eagle was born Dec. 10, 1929, in Stapleton, to the late Robert Cliff Coleman and Dora Hesson Coleman.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas William Eagle Sr.

Mrs. Eagle attended Thomas Terrace Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Thomas and Rita Eagle, of Lynchburg, Ronnie and Mechelle Eagle, of Appomattox, Doris and Rich Seal, of Lynchburg, and Patricia and Randy Green, of Lynchburg; her grandchildren, Tee Eagle, Kevin Eagle, Kellie Gallier, Lindsay Melvin, Jason Elliott, Randall Elliott and Taylor Green; six great-grandchildren, Camryn Gallier, Brendan Gallier, Ian Elliott, Cadyn Elliott, Kenzie Elliott and Payton Melvin; a sister, Jean Burgess, of Madison Heights; a devoted niece, Linda B. Davidson; and a special sister-in-law, Ann E. Campbell.

Mrs. Eagle is preceded in death by her sister, Louise Brown, and six brothers, Clyde Coleman, Gordon Coleman, Sammy Coleman, Robert Coleman, Walter Coleman and Jack "Elmo" Coleman.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of The Carrington for the care of their mom for the past two months.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Sept. 29, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her daughter, 1037 Dandridge Drive. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Mark Grooms and the Rev. Ronnie Davidson. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Concord Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 48, Concord, VA 24538, or Centra Hospice of the Hills, 3300 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24503.

Tommy, Rita and Family,
I know it's hard to lose someone you love, and though words can't take away the sadness you feel, I want to tell you that I care deeply about you and all that you're going through.
