James Moorefield Obituary
"Goose"
James E. "Goose" Moorefield, 55, of Lynchburg, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and his daughter, Jamie.
James was born March 16, 1955, in Lynchburg, a son of Othelia Davis Moorefield, of Lynchburg, and the late John E. Moorefield. He was the owner and operator of Moorefield Trucking and a member of Tree of Life Ministries, the National Rifle Association and Sons of the American Legion. James was also an avid motorcyclist and a sports enthusiast.
In addition to his wife, daughter and mother, he is survived by a sister, Vickie Johnson, and her husband, Clyde ("Tony"), of Lynchburg; a brother, Ricky Moorefield, and his wife, Lisa, of Forest; a half-brother; numerous half-sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of James's life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Tree of Life Ministries, with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will follow in Tree of Life Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Cancer Care Fund Centra Foundation, 1901 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.

I was very sad to hear about James passing. May God be with you and your family in this time of sorrow. I knew James 30+ years ago.I am proud to say he was my friend he helped me thru a very hard time in my life and for this I will always be grateful, I do regret not letting him know how much he helped me. Jennifer, Jamie & Vicki, We are so sorry to hear to hear about your great loss. Freddie and I just saw James walking down the road recently and was thinking back to when all of us were in school together.
