Jean Baudaillier Obituary

Jean Henri Baudaillier

Jean Henri Baudaillier, 69, of Forest, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born June 6, 1941, in Thimeon, Belgium, Jean was a son of the late Maria Vankerkoven Baudaillier and Gustav Baudaillier.

In addition to his parents, Jean was preceded in death by his first wife, Christiane, and a brother, Gaeton.

Jean is survived by his wife, Rebecca Poplin Baudaillier, of Forest; his three daughters, Brigitte Wilson and her husband, Stacy, of Forest, Tracy Graff and her husband, Jeff, of Forest, and Teagan Brooks and her husband, Curt, of Goode; five grandchildren, Hunter Wilson, Sarah Graff, Mark Graff, Andrew Graff and Pierson Brooks; and a sister, Anne Michelle Baudaillier-Burney, and her husband, Roger, of Thimeon Belgium.

Jean came to the United States in 1965, recruited by Alphonse Stroobants to build Belgium Tool and Die. After leaving Belgium Tool and Die, he worked at Price & Clements for 17 years. He left to build his own corporation known as Belgae Corporation, which was his pride and joy. He took great pride in his accomplishments and family. The last eight years of his life he found joy in his marriage to Becky. He grew spiritually and embraced his Belgian family. Jean was a perfectionist, yet mischievous, playful and charming. He never met a stranger. He loved life and loved people.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Jean's life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at Mead Memorial UMC, with the Rev. George Hatmaker, the Rev. Steve Turner and the Rev. James Perkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 5511 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA 23228.

Our condolences to the family on their loss. Mr. Baudaillier would come by our travel agency when he planned to visit his family in Belgium to purchase airlines tickets. He brought a smile to all our faces when he entered our door. He even brought in a Belgium flag to add to our office collection and often brought Belgium chocolates after returning from a visit abroad. We will miss his smile, laughter and wonderful love of life. Travel Lovers in Lynchburg, VA
