Mary Satterwhite Obituary

Mary Webster Satterwhite

Mary Josephine Webster Satterwhite, 84, passed away Dec. 8, 2010, at Westminster-Canterbury after a brief illness. Born Nov. 17, 1926, in Washington, D.C., to the late Robert King Webster and Sarah Harrison Webster, she lived in Lynchburg all her adult life. Life threw Mary Jo numerous challenges, all of which she met straight on with courage and a sense of humor. She found joy in the devoted care of her husband of forty-three years, Howard Lewis Satterwhite, and in watching the growth of her much loved son and grandsons. Gardening, sewing, cooking and reading also brought her pleasure.

She is survived by her son, William H. Burruss III, and his wife Martha Terrell Burruss, and their sons, George Webster Burruss and William Boyd Burruss.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring.
