Vernon Calvin Bibb

Vernon Calvin (Toady) Bibb, of Lynchburg, took his last earthly flight on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010. Born Nov. 16, 1927, in Lynchburg, a son of the late Elsby Leon Bibb and Cleopatra Hicks Bibb. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathyleen Ryan Bibb.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kathy Bibb, of Roanoke; his beloved cat, Millie; a brother, Leon Bibb, and his wife, Ruth, of Mount Dora, Fla.; and his cousins, Patra Bedwell, of Roanoke, and Gail Thomas, of Bedford.

Toady retired from Limitorque Corporation after 40+ years of service. He was a man of many talents, from singing and dancing in Lynchburg Fine Arts Center Productions, Little Theater, to singing in barbershop quartets, riding Harleys, fishing, to building his own aircraft and flying, which was his main passion in life. There wasn't much that he missed. He was a true lover of life and all the adventures that it could provide. But most of all, he was a giver. He gave of his time, his talents and his innate ability to want to help people.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, with the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
