Alise Campbell Obituary

Alise Bowling Wilkes Campbell

Alise Bowling Wilkes Campbell, 92, of the Elks National Home, Bedford, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at the home. She was born in Bedford County on March 28, 1918, a daughter of the late Thomas E. Bowling and Sally Saunders Bowling.

She was a longtime member of Bedford Presbyterian Church, attended Bedford High School and was a retired employee of the former Piedmont Label Company. Her passions in life were gardening and cooking. She was the widow of

W. Woodrow Wilkes and Howard M. Campbell.

Alise is survived by her son, William W. Wilkes, and his wife, Nancy, of Harrisonburg; a brother, William E. Bowling and his wife, Frances, of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Christine Wilkes Kennedy and her husband, Jason, Ryan Wilkes and his wife, Cathleen, and Megan Wilkes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, (434) 586-3443.
