Antionette Matthews Obituary

Antionette Nicole Matthews

On Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, Antionette Nicole Matthews (Toni) was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He saw two years of suffering with heart disease was enough, and through it all she always gave Him the glory and thanks, praising her God's wonderful name.

Toni was born Dec. 19, 1974, in Lynchburg. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronnie Younger, and her adopted father, Roy Cabell. Toni was a faithful member of To Walk In Newness Ministry, where she served in the hospitality ministry and the youth council as a church caretaker and a praising usher. She will be remembered for her selfless acts of kindness that touched many lives, but most of all as the praising usher who welcomed you with the loving spirit of God at To Walk In Newness Ministry. She leaves to cherish her lovely memories her devoted mother, Deborah Matthews; maternal grandmother, Lucille Wood, lovingly known as Granny; three uncles, Charles Matthews, James Matthews and David Burks (Mary); two aunts, Willie Mae McDaniel and Patricia McDaniel; her second mother, Renee Deas; two devoted sister cousins, Lakisha Matthews and Robin Wright; godmother, Joyce Smith; and a host of cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday,

Nov. 23, 2010, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service, with Pastor Andreal Braxton Nowlin officiating. The interment will be in Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com. Service of comfort is rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Deborah, Ms. Cille, and the rest of the Matthews family. I was both shocked and saddened to hear of Toni's passing. She, Bones and I used to hang out and have a blast when we were attending E.C. Glass. I will always remember the good times that we had, especially all the shopping that we did! I will miss running in to Toni when I come home for short visits, however, she suffers no more. I know you will forever feel her presence!
