AVIS GADDY Obituary
Avis Doss Gaddy, 82, of Hurt, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at UVA Medical Center in Charlottsville.
She was born in Pittsylvania County on Feb. 14, 1928, the daughter of the late Carrie Gold Doss and Robert Reavy Doss, of Gretna. A retired employee of Burlington Industries, she enjoyed gardening, walking and the outdoors. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
Two children, Kenneth L. Gaddy, of Hurt and Rita G. Tucker, of Gretna; and two siblings, Kaydean Haley, of Danville and Danny Doss, of Gretna, survive her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Gaddy; two sons, Alan Dale Gaddy and Robert J. (Bobby) Gaddy Jr.; one sister, Juanita Doss; and three brothers, Florenteen Doss, Carroll Doss and James Doss.
Finch and Finch, Inc. Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista is assisting the family. Per her wishes, a private service for Avis is planned.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
