Dear Eleanor,
You know we have always thought so much of you and Bascome. Ray always liked teasing him about being a "horse thief". We have many memories of both of you with his carved animals. You are in our thoughts and prayers as always.

Eleanor,
I am so sorry to hear of "Hudsons" death. He was a wonderful friend to my dad and our entire family for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I used to "help" him and my dad as they worked on one project or another. I cherish several of the wood carvings he gave me over the years. He was a wonderful man as I know you know. He will be greatly missed by so many of us that loved him.

Uncle Tootsie
I consider myself so blessed to have been able to spend some quality time with my Uncle in the past few months. He and Eleanor were the true image of the perfect marriage. They truly became one. I will truly miss him and will definately look after Eleanor. He always replied "I Love You More". One of his favorite sayings that will stick with me forever was when you would ask him if he needed anything he would reply "No just a kind word every now and then is all I need". Rest in eternal peace.

Bascome knew my father, James L Davis, from the railroad where they both worked. I knew him due to that connection and from eating at the Piccadilly in New Market North on Sundays where the waitress seemed to affectionately call him "Porky Bean". Bascome had a hobby of carving things out of peach pits (little pigs) and wood (little dogs). At my father’s funeral, he came up to me and secretly placed a small wooden dog in my hand as if to show his respect for my father and our family. We still have that little wooden dog. Like the wood carver form the Pinocchio story, Bascome added animation to relationships and was himself a memorable character. Thank God for such persons as they cross our paths. He will truly be missed. "Keep your hand upon the throttle and your eye upon the rail!"

Dear Ms. Eleanor,
I am saddened at the loss of Bascome. I cannot begin to tell you the affect that the both of you played in my life as a young teenager and then as an adult. You both have given so much and I just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. There will never be a more "Wonderful and Caring" man than Basome. I know that God has a very special place for him.
Deepest Sympathies,
