Carolyn Moore O'Brien

Nancy Carolyn Moore O'Brien, 63, of Anderson Mill Road, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 1, 2010, at her residence. She was the wife of William Clem (Sonny) O'Brien.

Carolyn was born in Appomattox County on July 6, 1947, a daughter of Mrs. Rebecca Whitten (Becky) Moore, of Appomattox, and the late Burnace Rice Moore. She was self-employed and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two daughters, Donna Marie Mayberry Arrington and her husband, Dwayne, of Lynchburg and Angie Mayberry McIver and her husband, William, of Appomattox; two brothers, B. Allen Moore and his wife, Peggy, of Lynchburg, and James C. (Jimmy) Moore and his wife, Mary, of Evington; three step- children, John William O'Brien and Richard O'Brien, both of Appomattox, and Suzanne Guill, of Rustburg; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one step- grandson; and her daughter-in-law, Audrey Moore Mayberry, of Appomattox.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Evan (Chuck) Mayberry Jr., brother, Lewis Wayne (Butch) Moore, and a granddaughter, Jamie Leigh Mayberry.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home, by Jack Barrett Chaplain of Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Burial will follow in the O'Brien family cemetery.

Family and friends are welcome at the home of her mother on Evergreen Avenue in Appomattox.

The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to caregivers Kim Moisa and Ann Shelton for their devotion and attention to Carolyn during her illness.
