Donna Mitchell Lowery

Donna Mitchell Lowery, 50, of 2164 Oak Level Road, Halifax, formerly of Appomattox, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Appomattox and was employed by Boston Lumber Co. Donna spent her life full of a generous spirit, a kind heart and a life dedicated to her children.

Surviving are her parents, Hugh and Doris Mitchell, of Appomattox; a son, Christopher Michael Lowery, and his significant other, Emily Seat, of Halifax; a daughter, Amanda Nicole Lowery, also of Halifax; by two brothers, Marvin Mitchell and his wife, Rita, and Calvin Mitchell and his wife, Roseanna, all of Appomattox; a sister-in-law, Sheila Vaughan, of South Boston; the father of her children, Michael Lowery, of Halifax; and by nieces and nephews, Anna, Matthew and Ashley Mitchell and Mary Snead.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at Dan River Baptist Church with burial in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, also at Dan River Baptist Church.
