Harry Hurt Obituary

Harry L. Hurt Sr.

Deacon Harry L. Hurt Sr., of 3000 Birchwood Ct., #120, Lynchburg, formerly of Big Island, departed this life Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Guggenheimer Rehabilitation Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Hurt and Susie White Hurt; two sisters; five brothers; Alfonso Mosby Hurt and a son, MSGT Harry L. Hurt Jr.

He leaves to mourn two daughters, Shirley Hurt Parker, of Amherst, and Linda Hurt Winfield, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Teresa Hurt, of Ithaca, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Cynthia Parker Hood (Alvin), of Madison Heights, SSGT Terrence A. Hurt (Michelle), of Hawaii, Dana L. Hurt and Dianne Hurt Shrieves (William), both of Ithaca, N.Y.; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Community Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family is recieving friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. The cortege will assemble at the funeral home.

Mr Hurt will always have a spot in my heart! He made me laugh nightly, Mr Hurt was a very personable man. His love for pig feet and cabbage will never be forgotten!

Harry was always a pleasure to be around when in Big Island he spent a lot of his time at H&H market just having fun with the locals.he will be missed by many.
