Horace Arthur Obituary

Horace David Arthur Jr.

Horace David Arthur Jr., 69, of Vero Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at Vero Beach Hospice House after a long illness. Mr. Arthur was a resident of Vero Beach for 15 years.

He was born April 12, 1941, in Lynchburg and was a son of Horace David Arthur Sr. and Mildred Louise Madison Arthur. He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth Wayne Arthur, of San Francisco, Calif., and Allen Dale Arthur, of Lynchburg. In addition, two sisters survive him, Maureen E. Arthur Simoniz (Robert), of Alexandria, and Doris J. Arthur Brightwell (Richard), of Madison Heights, and seven nieces and nephews.

Mr. Arthur served two years in the U.S. Army Finance Corps. His work experience included working as a senior programmer/analyst with First Virginia Services Inc. in Falls Church. He retired in 1996 from Electronic Data Systems Corporation (EDS) as a system engineer in Reston.

He was a lifetime member of Sertoma International Service Organization and served as secretary of the Association of American Magicians in Florida.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960-4801.
