Kurt Mohan Wenzel

Kurt Mohan Wenzel, 77, of Evergreen, died peacefully at his home Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, surrounded by family after a short illness.

He was born May 13, 1933, to Elva Walker and Elmer Wenzel in Michigan. He was a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he was a NCAA National Medalist in rope climbing. He then went to serve in the United States Air Force.

Kurt is survived by his wife, Nancy Wenzel; son, Aaron Wenzel, of Round Hill, his children, Michael and Berghan; son, Sean, and wife, Jennifer Wenzel, of Farmville, their son, James; son, Kris Wenzel, of Farmville; son, Bryan Wenzel, of Farmville; son, Gary Wenzel, of Richmond; daughter, Keather, and husband, Luke Leslies, of Richmond, their children, Christopher Craig and Hannah Leslie; son, Joshua Wenzel, of Florida; Rosie Lujan and grandsons, Garrett and Connor Jensen, of Farmville; stepdaughter, Paige Williams, and husband, Troy, of Lynchburg, their children, Alissa, Hailey and Troy Jr.; stepson, Al Parrish; and his beloved pets, Pepito, Chiquita Bell, Garfield, Mom, Sweetie Pie and Danita.


Kurt worked as a landscaper and plumber. He spent much of his free time landscaping his own yard which was admired by many. He enjoyed country western dancing and was a sports enthusiast following the Denver Broncos, USC Trojans, Los Angeles Lakers and L.A. Dodgers. He was a Kriya Yogi in Self Realization Fellowship and an active member of Satchidananda Ashram Yogaville in Buckingham, where he spent many years in service and was loved by all that knew him.
