I will miss Judge but always remember him as a member of the Greatest Generation, truly a remarkable man who lived a complete life. I will always cherish joining Judge and his buds for lunch at FYC and listening to war, VMI , hunting and boating stories. What a great man and wonderful customer. He will be missed. Genny, I did not know your Dad but reading his obituary I see why it is called the “greatest generation.” I am thankful for the life long love between our families. It has made the difference.

Big Judge served in many capacities during his life, he was a son, soldier, husband, father, and businessman, but the one role I think defined him most was that of a VMI Cadet. The VMI family will miss Big Judge greatly...
March With Me
March with me you dashing lads.
Serve by me fair maids.
Jackson stands as still as night
Where Virginia's boys are laid.
“All Accounted For is called;
A lone bugler sounds retreat;
Cannon roars to call the dark;
Muffled thud of marching feet.
Rats to Firsts they soon become;
Through Limit's Gate then wander
Seeking out a destiny
Where honor calls them yonder.
Fighting wars and serving all;
Storied lives are told by sages.
Though their time with us was short;
Deeds done will shape the ages.
Shenandoah call your wards
Give them peace with setting sun.
Let them hear the bugler's call
When at last their duty's done.
Resting in sacred places
To watch as cadets follow
A trail they have marked so well
From arches, bluffs, and hollows.
March with me to distant drum,
Brazen lads and daring maids.
Sing the cadence of heroes
In bold chorus as light fades.

I worked at Carolina Lumber Company in the late 70's. It was a pleasure to work for men like Robert Morris, Sr.,Judge Nottingham, and his son's. We've all been born into sin, imperfection and death. Romans 6:7 has always conforted me, when I've lost loved ones and friends....may it comfort the Nottingham family at this time. ------Steve Sassard
