Mildred Christine Moon

Mrs. Mildred Christine Moon, 92, of Lynch Station, departed this life Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at the Medical Care Center. She was born April 8, 1918, in Alcoa, Tenn., the daughter of the late Mose May and Frances Karn May.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Thurman Moon Sr., and a son-in-law, James Bass.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Mary Frances Bass, of Rustburg; two sons, Thurman Moon Jr. (Effie), of Bluffton, S.C., and Billy Joe Moon (Kathleen), of Landover, Md.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great granchildren; a nephew, Bobby Edmonds, of Richmond; a niece, Olivia Caldwell, of Baltimore, Md.; and a host of in-laws, other loving relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at Community Funeral Home with Minister Kimberly Dunkley officiating. Interment will be in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family is receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 10, 2010, at the funeral home. The cortege will assemble at the funeral home.
