Norvell Jones Obituary
Norvell W. Jones Sr. "Jake" departed this life Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1943, to the late James and Virginia Jones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an aunt and a brother.
Norvell "Jake" is survived by his wife, Ann; his son, Norvell Jr. "JJ" (Selisa); two granddaughters, Shamya and Briana; one great-granddaughter, Chasity Spradley; one sister, Elizabeth Holloman; one brother, James "Jimmy" (Regina); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Ford, officiating and the Rev. James Johnson as eulogist. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by American Legion Post 16. His remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends at 701 Stuart St. The cortege will assemble at the funeral home.

I just heard a couple of days ago about Jake. I'm not sure whether you will remeber me but we attended Dunbar together. I also live across the street from Jake and his mom on Hancock St., I was so astonished to hear about him because often when I talk to my family I have often asked about him. You have my deepest of sympathy and prayers. Please extend the same to Jimmy and the rest of the family.

Ann..I am so very sorry for your loss. Jake was a very likeable, and friendly man that I have known since Elementary School at Armstrong. Contact me if you need to talk but I will keep you and your family in prayer.

Just found out about Jake.I am soo sorry for your loss.I know he will be missed greatly.Whenever i saw him he talked about his family.He was a very good man and i enjoyed working with him at Ericsson.You and the family will be in my prayers often.God Bless you all.
