Rebecca Weeks Obituary
Rebecca Davis Weeks, 71, of Forest, peacefully departed this life and entered into the glory of heaven on Saturday, June 12, 2010, after a brief illness. She was the loving and devoted wife of Dave Andrew Weeks Jr. for 52 years.
Born Nov. 10, 1938, in Persons County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Linwood Milton Davis and Susie Mayhew Davis Rowland.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Debra W. Werthman and husband, Scott, of Forest, Karla W. Gibson and husband, John, of Wilkesboro, N.C., Karen W. Canfield and husband, Bill, of Forest; five grandchildren, Katelyn and Kyle Werthman, David Gibson, Brittany and Camden Canfield; a sister, Brenda Hill, and husband, William B., of Mechanicsville; mother-in-law, Lois Guthrie Weeks Heath; a special aunt, Ina Midkiff, of Hurt; and a special friend, Betty Shelton, of Evington.
Rebecca was a devoted and loving Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She graduated from Longwood College and worked 20 years in the registrar's office at Lynchburg College before retiring in 2001. She was active in the Lynchburg Police Wives' Group and in the Charity Sunday School Class at West Lynchburg Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, June 15, 2010, at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road, and other times at the residence.
A celebration of Rebecca's life and faith will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at West Lynchburg Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Putt and the Rev. James D. Newman officiating. Interment will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family wishes to extend its appreciation to all of the loving and compassionate caregivers on the Oncology floor of Lynchburg General Hospital, Centra Hospice of the Hills and to her loving and compassionate doctor, Dr. Cecilia MacCallum.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to West Lynchburg Baptist Church, Centra Hospice of the Hills or The American Cancer Society.

My hearfelt sympathies to your family at this difficult time. I worked with Mrs. Weeks in the registrar's office at LC as a student. She and I shared so many memories. In fact, with the birth of my last child she sent me a card. It was so special as she continued to stay connected with me after I graduated in 2000. May God give you peace and comfort during this time.
