Saundra Jamerson Mitchell

Saundra Jamerson Mitchell of Nashville, TN went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 3, 2010 following a brief illness at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Saundra was born on June 24, 1940 in Lynchburg, VA to the late John Washington Jamerson and the late Mary Wilson Astin Jamerson.

She lived in Rustburg, VA most of her childhood and graduated from Rustburg High School in June 1958. She married Calvin Peters of Lynchburg, VA and later married Walter Lee Mitchell of Gladys, VA.

Saundra attended Mountain Empire Community College and later Belmont University in Nashville, TN where she received a bachelor's degree in music in 1993.

She loved gospel and country music and while living at Trevecca Towers Retirement Center on the grounds of Trevecca Nazarene University she enjoyed teaching and assisting retired residents in the computer center and other areas.

Saundra is survived by 2 sons, William David Peters of Murfreesboro, TN and Barry Alan Mitchell of Davidson, NC ; a daughter, Cynthia Lee Mitchell and grandson, Logan McKinley Maffett, both of Murfreesboro, TN; a brother William Powell Jamerson and his wife, Patti of Hampton, VA; sisters Judy Jamerson Payne and her husband, Jerry of North Myrtle Beach, SC; Billie Jamerson Sleeper and her husband, Dan of Danville, VA and Bettie Jamerson Bray and her husband, Kenny of Monroe, VA along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2010, at 7 p.m. In Trevecca Towers, on Lester Ave. At Trevecca Nazarene University, Nashville, TN.
