Stratton Franklin Obituary

Stratton Howard Franklin

Stratton Howard Franklin, 85, of Appomattox, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Babcock Manor. He was the husband of Doris Tinnell Franklin, of Richmond.

Born in Appomattox County, on Oct. 29, 1925, he was a son of the late Robert Sterling (Doc) and Mattie Carwile Franklin. Stratton was a member of Bible Baptist Church, a WW II Army veteran, a retired carpenter, and had been a member of the Carpenters Union #388 for 64 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a sister, Catherine McFall, of Lynchburg; a brother, Dillard L. Franklin and his wife, Margie M. Franklin; a sister-in-law, Shirley Franklin all of Appomattox; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond S. Franklin.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Bible Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert E. Lee. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home today, Thursday, Jan. 13, from 7 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Dillard and Margie Franklin, 1780 Franklin Farm Lane.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Babcock Manor for their loving care of Stratton.
