Venezuela Evelyn Thompson McKinney

Venezuela Evelyn Thompson McKinney, 86, of Concord, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at Runk and Pratt, Leesville Road, Lynchburg. She was the wife of the late William Madison McKinney.

Born in Gladys on Aug. 28, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Elma Moore and Charles Edward Thompson. Mrs. McKinney was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and a retired employee of G. E.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Frazier, and husband, Michael, of Forest; a son, R. A. McKinney, of Concord; three grandchildren, Charlie Edward McKinney, Johnny Madison McKinney and wife, Gina, and Erica Shahinian-Miller and husband, Tyson; five great-grandchildren, Jackson, Alexandra and Declan Miller, Chevy and Eric McKinney; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Dolores Thompson, of Spout Spring, and James and Estelle Thompson, of South Carolina; a devoted sister-in-law, Sallie Thompson, of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Ruby Wills, Carolyn Jones, Hilda Vaughan and husband, Ted.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Oneeda Thompson, Boyd Thompson and Vance and Betty Thompson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lelia and Alfred Jones; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Louise McKinney; and a nephew, Mickey Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, in Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Dan Dibble. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at the funeral home.
