CATANZARO - Anthony A., of Sayville, passed away on October 5, 2012 at the age of 76. Tony is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maureen, daughter, MaryEllen Catanzaro Szambel and her Rick, and son, Christopher Catanzaro, and his spouse Fran. Loving grandfather to Marc, Jorden, Ricky, and Elizabeth. Tony was predeceased in death by his son Marc Thomas Catanzaro. Tony was born on July 30, 1936 in Staten Island, NY to Camilla and Joseph Catanzaro. He grew up with a sister, Vivian and a brother Gepe. Tony served in the Korean War and met his bride Maureen while stationed in London. Together they raised three children while living in Sayville. Tony retired from the LIRR after 25 years of service. Tony loved spending time with his 4 grandchildren and was an avid Yankee and horseracing fan and enjoyed crabbing and fishing. Funeral Mass Monday Oct 8th at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence RC Church, Sayville. Private interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flwers donations to Make-a-Wish Foundation, a charity at which Tony often Volunteered, are requested.
