Evelyn Gardiner McLARNEY

McLARNEY - Evelyn Gardiner, of Floral Park on February 7. Evelyn went peacefully into the arms of the Lord after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in the Bronx on May 2, 1943, Evelyn grew up in Bellerose and attended Floral Park Memorial HS where she served as a teacher of Social Studies, Director of Student Activities and Assistant Principal during a 39-year long career. A world traveler, Evelyn had friendships with many people in Italy, France and the Caribbean, where she had a home to spend times with her family and friends in Saint Maarten. An avid reader and inveterate card person, Evelyn never failed to send a greeting card, mass card or prayer card to all family and friend alike. Many of her friendships dated back to her time in elementary school. Preceded in death by her parents William and Evelyn and her extremely beloved parents-in-law, Francis and Juliana McLarney. Evelyn is survived by hr devoted husband of 34 years, Francis; her siblings Virginia, Barbara, William and Catherine; sister-in-law Judith Ferrara; brothers-in-law Kevin and Daniel McLarney; cousins Maureen Kolberg and Coleen Scanlan and numerous other greatly loved cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as herbeloved Golden Retrievers McKenzie and Brendan.. Services at Thomas F Dalton Funeral Home, 125 Hillside Ave, New Hyde Park Tuesday and Wednesday, February 12 and 13. Mass of the Resurrection on February 14 at 9:30am at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park. Interment at Holy Rood Cemetery. Requiem aeternam dona ei,Domine, et lux aeterna luceat ei cum sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es. Requiescat in pace Evelyn.
